Richard Albert Greene departed this world on Monday November 29, 2021 with his family at his side, after battling a litany of health issues.
He was born in Long Branch, NJ on September 3, 1951 to parents Shirley (Hourihan) Greene and William Riordan Greene. He graduated from Wildwood Catholic High School, Wildwood, NJ, in 1969.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Laurie Doolittle Greene; son Corey David Greene (Brittany), Pittsburgh, PA; and beloved grandson Sullivan Richard Greene.
He is also survived by brothers David Greene, Newton, NJ and Brian Greene, Sparta, NJ; one sister Nancy Meier, Point Pleasant, SC; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Rick grew up at the shore, spending his free time surfing or with his friends, but was dragged to Shippensburg when he married his wife. He would always say it was perfect in Shippensburg -- just missing an ocean.
Rick loved his family and friends and he loved music, especially the Beatles. He was known to send music links at any hour of the day to large groups of people. If he heard something new that he thought a certain person would like, he always passed it on. He knew and loved to talk about different musicians and how they all interacted with each other.
Rick loved baseball; he was an avid Phillies fan. He loved going to Phillies and Pirates games (though he liked Pittsburgh’s stadium and food better). He loved playing softball and volleyball with the Lurgan Lowriders. He absolutely loved helping to coach his son’s baseball and soccer teams.
Rick enjoyed interacting with people, cared about them, and always had jokes to tell. He worked at the Tollgate Tavern (now CJs), Lollipop Beverage, was the owner and operator of Blue Mountain Chimney Sweep, and was a Rural Carrier for the Shippensburg Post Office for 20 years.
He believed strongly in God, peace, supporting those in need and treating everyone fairly and with respect.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Masks are strongly encouraged.
