Richard D. “Rick” Foreman, Jr., 71, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
He was born on November 15, 1953 in Carlisle, a son of Leah (Witmer) Foreman and the late Richard D. Foreman, Sr. He married Lisa A. (Anderson) Long on June 5, 2021.
Rick was a 1971 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School and was owner and operator of Foreman’s Auction for over 50 years. He was also an officer for the FFA and was active in livestock sales at the Shippensburg Community Fair. Rick volunteered his time for various organizations and functions and was well known for auctioning produce at Cedar Grove. He had a passion for cow and bull pedigree and served as a driver within the local Mennonite community.
In addition to his mother, Leah Foreman of Mechanicsburg and spouse, Lisa A. Long of Shippensburg, he is survived by six children, Karen Foreman of Chambersburg, Kristy Foreman of Newville, Jeffrey Foreman of Walnut Bottom, Richard D. Foreman III of Newville, Brian Long and companion Jaime of Newburg, and Ashley Wright and husband Brenton of St. Thomas; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Randy Foreman and wife Sandy of Mechanicsburg, Scott Foreman and wife Robin of Rockwood, and Steve Foreman and wife Lauryn of Mechanicsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing or visitation at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at North Newton Township Park.
