Richard Fetterman

June 24, 1939 — July 11, 2017

Richard H. “Fuzz” Fetterman, Sr., 78, of Newville, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in the Arden Court Personal Care Home, Harrisburg, PA.

Born Saturday, June 24, 1939 in Cloe, PA., Jefferson County, he was a son of the late David Herbert and Hazel Belle Weaver Fetterman.

Richard was of the Methodist Faith. He was a United States Army Veteran serving with the 101 Air Borne Rangers Screaming Eagles. Richard was a sheet metal worker for Local 19, Philadelphia with 50 years of service. Richard was the owner/operator of R.H. Fetterman & Sons Custom Cutlery.

He was the Founder of the Great North American Rendezvous and the Founder of the Pennsylvania Long Hunters, and he was very active in the Eastern Primitive Rendezvous. Richard was a member of the Order of the Beaver.

He was a man’s man and bigger than life.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna L. Schaefer Fetterman whom he married March 29, 1980; three sons, Richard H. (wife Cynthia) Fetterman, Jr., Newville, Mark S. (wife Lisa) Fetterman, Mt. Holly Springs, and Nathan J. Fetterman, Carlisle; one daughter, Beth Ann (husband Howard) Barrick, Newville; one sister, Cathy M. Wasylak, Altoona; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Fetterman; and two sisters, Betty Langenbacher and Mary Alice Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium with the Rev. Gary Bruland officiating. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 3344 North Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
