Richard Coleman

Richard N. “Dick” Coleman, 86, of Chambersburg, died Friday, March 18, 2016 in Menno Haven.

He was born July 10, 1929 in Beaver Springs, Snyder County. Dick was a son of the late Park E and Nellie S. Graybill Coleman.

He retired from the Chambersburg Area School District where he taught mathematics and was an Athletic Director. Dick was a member of the Zion Reformed Church, Chambersburg. He was a 1953 graduate of the Shippensburg State Teachers College and a 1947 graduate of the Beaver Vocational High School. Dick was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He loved hunting and playing golf.

Dick is survived by his wife, Doris R. Rhinehart Coleman, one son, Todd A. Coleman and his wife Katrina of Fayetteville, two daughters, Barbara A. Metcalfe and her husband Denny of Chambersburg, and LuAnn Rosenberger and her husband Kevin of Dillsburg, one brother, Glenn Coleman of Vermilion, OH, one sister, Bernice Troutman of Selinsgrove, a sister-in-law, Phyllis Coleman of Beaver Springs, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Gladys Coleman, one grandson Brandon Metcalfe, and one brother Gale Coleman.

Memorial services will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Zion Reformed Church in Chambersburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Jeffrey Diller. Burial with military honors conducted by the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599 will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Reformed Church, 259 South Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201, or a charity of choice.
