Richard Bushman

January 12, 1947 — November 3, 2015

Richard Lewis Bushman, 68, of Spring Run, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born in Bellevue, PA, the son of the late Jacob H. and Alberta LaRue Lewis Bushman. Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, enlisting in 1965 and honorably discharged on May 5, 1967. He married Ms. Elaine L. Miller on September 1, 1966, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in North East, MD.

Richard was a graduate of Penn State University and the Dickinson School of Law. He started his career as a Special Inspector for the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and worked there for nine years. Richard then spent thirty-one years as self-employed Attorney, practicing in the areas of bankruptcy, estates/wills, and family law.

In his free time, Richard, who was also a master electrician, liked to do electrical work for other people. He loved trains, traveling, movie nights with his daughters, and was always well known for his wonderful sense of humor and telling some really bad jokes.

Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elaine; three daughters, Katherine Lynn Bushman and husband Brian O’Sullivan of New Zealand, Kara Leigh Shindle and husband Dennis Jr., and Janka Kukova and her son Andrew of Evergreen, CO.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his half-sister, Louella Mae Bushman, who died in 1943.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Monday November 9, 2015, at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Chambersburg. The Reverend Carenda Baker will officiate. We will reconvene for interment at 3:00 p.m., in the Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Spring Run. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg.
