Raymond Stuart Winters, 90, of Fairview Drive, Carlisle, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 in the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Duncansville, PA.
Born Sunday, December 23, 1923 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, PA, he was a son of the late Jacob L. and Minnie Agnes Mooney Winters.
Raymond was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII with the 71st
Seabees. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Shippensburg. Raymond retired from Letterkenny Army Depot as a mechanic after 35 years of service.
He was an expert carpenter, enjoyed woodworking and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are one son, Barry R. Winters and wife Deborah of Carlisle; two daughters, Judy A. Kocon of Kona, HI and Karen L. Winters and husband, Eugene Eck of Martinez, CA; one brother, Donald Winters of Shippensburg; five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rhea C. Varner Winters; one sister, Gail Winters Grossman; and five brothers, Clyde, Berk, Carl, William and Fred Winters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Daniel E. Cluck officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council. A viewing will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral home Inc.
