Raymond Smith

Raymond L. Smith, Sr., of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born Wednesday, December 21, 1938 in Milton, PA. Raymond was a son of the late Paul A. and Mabel E. (Kreisher) Smith.

He retired from both the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War and as a Civil Servant with the United States Government. Raymond was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 both in Shippensburg and AARP. He also was a member of the Retired Air Force Sergeants Association.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Maria J. (Olea) Smith, four children, Raymond L. Smith, Jr. of Shippensburg, Susan S. Dwyer and her husband Bill of Cameron, TX, Christine M. Cressler and her husband Sam of Shippensburg and Robert L. Smith and his wife Jennifer of Glenolden, one sister, Gloria M. VanScyoc of Palmyra, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald A. Smith.

Private entombment will take place in the mausoleum at Parklawns Memorial Gardens with military honors conducted by the Minute Men of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Christopher Frye.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kings Kettle Food Bank, 30 N Fayette St., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
