Raymond N. Goss, 84, formerly of Lewistown, late of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on September 16, 1933, in Lewistown, a son of the late Herbert and Ella M. Henry Goss and was a 1952 graduate of Chief Logan High School. Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, enlisting on June 26, 1952, and honorably discharged on May 28, 1956. He married Isabella G. Topping on June 11, 1955 in Edinburgh, Scotland. They were married for sixty-three years.
Raymond worked as a machinist for Standard Steel in Burnham, PA, for thirty-three years retiring in 1992. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and camping. Raymond was also known as an excellent woodworker who was especially skilled at building furniture. When his children were young, he was always very active and involved in supporting their athletic and extracurricular activities. Raymond was a wonderful husband and father and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife of sixty-three years, Isabella, he is survived by two daughters, Karen E. (Frank) Byers of Shippensburg and Deborah A. Weaver of Shippensburg; two sons, Michael S. (Leslie) Goss of Milroy and Mark R. Goss of Williamsport; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Goss of Lewistown and Larry Goss of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Wayne and two sisters, Helen and Betty.
His funeral services, entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, will be private. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment, at a later date, will also be private.
