Ray O. Strayer, 87, of Shippensburg, died Monday, July 11, 2016 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born October 27, 1928 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County. Ray was a son of the late David and Louetta Miller Strayer.
He attended Hope Reformed Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg. Ray retired from Squires in Shippensburg, where he was an appliance repairman. He was a member of the George Washington Lodge #143 F.& A.M., Chambersburg, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg and was a 1946 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School. Ray was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
Ray is survived by one son, Kenneth R. (Jane L.) Strayer, two grandchildren, Gregory R. (Carrie) Strayer, and Laura A. (Eric) Williams, five great grandchildren, Caitlyn J. Williams, Alex E. Williams, Lucas J. Strayer, Cooper L. Strayer, and Reagan Jo Strayer, one sister Faye Ordway all of Shippensburg, one brother, Don Strayer of York and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie J. Farner Strayer who died September 20, 2007, and two sisters, Gladys Jane Hawkins, and Helen Mays.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. David J. Fidati. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. with Masonic Services at 1:45 p.m.
