Ray E. Holtry, 78, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 in Greenridge Village, Newville.
He was born March 31, 1938 in Shippensburg, PA. Ray was a son of the late Walter S. and Helen L. Hawk Holtry.
Ray was a retired brick layer, working for various contractors. He was a member of the Local Bricklayers Union #23, Harrisburg. He was a life member of the following fire companies; Cumberland Valley Hose Co. #53, where he was a past Fire Chief, Vigilant Hose Co. #52, and West End Fire & Rescue all in Shippensburg. Ray was a 1956 graduate of the Shippensburg High School and a member of AARP # 2525, Shippensburg.
Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years, Luella M. Hafer Holtry, one son, Rick A. Holtry of Chambersburg, two daughters, Terry R. (Donald) Russell, and Bonnie L. Holtry all of Carlisle, three grandsons, one granddaughter, one great grandson, one brother, Clyde E. Holtry of Shippensburg and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one great grandson and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Steven M. Livermore. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing, however a visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
