R. William Dunmire

July 6, 1954 — January 13, 2017

Robert William “Bill” Dunmire, Shippensburg, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 6, 1954, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late William H. and Doris M. (Hedge) Dunmire. He was married to the former Carol E. Hammond.

He was a 1972 graduate of Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He farmed in Franklin County for many years and later worked at T. B. Wood’s Inc., Chambersburg. He was a member of Mainsville Church.

Bill loved reading and history. He enjoyed studying the Bible and tinkering with his Triumph TR7.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Maggie; and his brother, Scott.

He is survived by his widow, Carol; his sons, Levi (April) Dunmire and Noah Dunmire, both of Virginia, and Shannon (Jody) Dunmire, Shippensburg; his grandchildren, Hailey, Dylan, Lauren, Dalton, Devon, and Abigail; and his sister, Barbara Thompson, Shippensburg.

It was his wish to be cremated and his cremains interred at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, with the Rev. Robert Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Jan. 28. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be at a later date.
