R. Paul Tosten, 93, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Elmcroft.
He was born December 3, 1925 in Bloserville, PA. Paul was a son of the late Russell W. and Maude Halter Tosten.
He was a dairy farmer all his life on the Ridge Road from 1947-1991. Paul also worked part-time in the orchards trimming trees in his early years. Retiring from full-time farming in 1991, he enjoyed working on his smaller farm, raising corn, grain and hay for his beef cattle. Paul also enjoyed mowing grass on his John Deere and working in the garden. He was a member of the Ridge Church of the Brethren and their Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Maryetta N. McMullen Tosten whom he married January 19, 1946 and passed away on June 12, 2018. He also was preceded in death by two sons-in- law, Richard Johnson and Edward Leab, one sister, Vada Hile and two brothers, Ray and Harry Tosten.
Paul is survived by two sons, Donald R. (Linda) Tosten and Roger P. (Jackie) Tosten, two daughters, Linda Johnson and Tammy (Gerald) Johnson, two brothers, Wilbur and Clarence Tosten, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Ridge Church of the Brethren with The Rev. Matthew Tosten and The Rev. Leon Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Ridge Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services at church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ridge Church of the Brethren, 1095 Ridge Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
