R. Michael Goodhart

February 19, 1944 — January 15, 2014

R. Michael “Mike” Goodhart, 69, of New Cumberland, and formerly of Shippensburg, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in his residence.

He was a retired contract manager for TYCO, Harrisburg and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Penn State and his Associates degree from H.A.C.C. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squad 0223, Shippensburg; Mt. Pleasant Fire Company Station 8 of the Harrisburg Fire Dept. where he served as Treasurer; Harrisburg Fireman’s Relief Assn. where he served as Treasurer; Fairview Twp. Fire Department Station 68 where he served as Assistant Chief; former member of West End Fire & Rescue, Shippensburg where he served as Assistant Chief; former member of Hummelstown Fire Department; former member of Chambers Hill Fire Department; and was a Charter member of the Harrisburg Fire Museum Assn. Mike enjoyed driving his red Corvette, car shows in Carlisle, camping, target shooting and everything Penn State.
He was born in Carlisle to the late Lester and Blanche (Shatzer) Goodhart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ann B. Goodhart.

Mike is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane L. (Wingerd) Goodhart; his son Erik M. (Kathleen) of Leesburg, VA; his daughter Traci A. Lilley (Bryan) of York Haven; a brother Edward S. of Shippensburg; and three grandchildren, Sean M. Goodhart, Justin M. Goodhart and Brayden D. Lilley.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 West King Street, Shippensburg with Pastor Tim Wheeler officiating. Visitations will be from 3-5 pm Sunday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland and again from 1-3 pm Tuesday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
