Phyllis H. Dunton, 86, of Shippensburg, died Friday, May 29, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born August 31, 1928 in Edinboro, Erie County, PA. Phyllis was a daughter of the late Jay and Jennie Tabor Dunton.
She was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg and sang in the church choir. Phyllis retired as an Elementary School Teacher from the Shippensburg Area School District. She was a graduate of Edinboro State University and a 1946 graduate of Edinboro High School. Phyllis was a member of the PA State Education Association, National Education Association, the Shippensburg Historical Society and Civic Club.
Phyllis is survived by three daughters, Judith Offner of Wenonah, NJ, Jane Offner, and Ann (her husband Philip) Fague all of Shippensburg, six grandchildren, Emily DeBaun-Orr, Andrew Lewis, Robert DeBaun, Gary Lewis, Colleen Sohl, and Jenna Fague, and one great grandson, Colin Orr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Blair Dunton, and a sister, Helen Dietrich.
Memorial services will be held Monday, June 1, 2015 in the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Kimberley Wadlington. Burial will be in Middle Spring Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in church.
