Pennelope A. “Penny” Sommerville, 75, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on September 27, 1948 in Canandaigua, NY, a daughter of the late Edward M. Holmes and June L. Noragong. She married Herbert A. “Herb” Sommerville on April 21, 1979. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2022.

Penny was a member of the Mowersvile Brethren in Christ Church. She enjoyed reading and had a heart for animals, especially cats.

She is survived by one son, Colby (Karla) Neil of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Josh (Cara) Neil, Erik Neil, and Emily (Jacob) Payne; three great-grandchildren, Ellie Neil, Maggie Payne, and Jackson Payne; and two brothers, Garth Rauber and John (Laurie) Rauber.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Cathy Moyer, Jack Rauber, Nicholas Rauber, and Raymond Rauber.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Per Penny’s wishes, there will be no public viewing, visitation, or service. Penny will be privately laid to rest alongside her husband in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, 14924 W. Creek Rd., Newburg, PA 17240 or the Humane Society, 7790 Grayson Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17111.
