Pauline C. Mowery, 94, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, died on the morning of Sunday, November 17, 2013.
She was born on June 19, 1919, at Newburg, PA, a daughter of the late Ezra and Carrie Hock Bert. On May 30, 1940 Pauline married Mr. John Mowery at the Bert home near Newburg. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1988.
Pauline and John were farmers near Newburg, PA, and later at Dry Run, PA. Pauline also worked as a seamstress for the former U-Wanna-Wash Frock Co., Shippensburg. She was a long time member of the Shippensburg First Church of God. Pauline enjoyed traveling all across the country to visit her children and other relatives. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting and embroidery.
She is survived by three sons, Samuel A. Mowery of Martinsburg, WV, Charles B. Mowery (wife, Mae) of Fairbanks, AK, and Rev. Dr. Norman G. Mowery (wife, Linda) of Carmel, CA; four daughters, Rev. Dr. Mary C. Mason (husband Larry) of Chambersburg, PA, Joy M. Mowery of Carlisle, Grace M. Reese (husband Michael) of Frederick, MD, and Eva Jane Tutch (friend Christopher Gill) of Scottsdale, AZ; two brothers, Alvin Bert of Statesville, NC, and James Bert; four sisters, Martha Vereide of Annapolis, MD, Annie Grove of Orrstown, Grace Nye and Mary Shultz of Chambersburg; thirty-two grandchildren, and sixty great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Her son, the Rev. Dr. Norman G. Mowery, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Friday, at the funeral home.
