Paul W. Ward, Jr., 81, of Chambersburg, passed away the morning of Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on Thursday, November 26, 1942 in Washington, PA, a son of the late Paul W. and Henrietta Bertrand Ward, Sr. He married Linda C. Parsons on June 26, 1965.
Paul obtained his Master’s Degree in social work from West Virginia University and worked for the Juvenile Court Judges Commission as a social worker. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War Era.
Paul was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed playing basketball. Throughout his life, he loved traveling with his wife and spending time at the beach. Paul was proud of his 1987 Mustang and enjoyed tinkering with it in the garage. Above all else in life, he loved his family and cherished watching his grandchildren in their sporting activities.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda C. Ward of Chambersburg; two children, Paul W. (Laurie) Ward III of Newville and Dawn M. (Matthew) Mentzer of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Kimberly Ward, Morgan (Cade) Brindle, and R. Luke Mentzer; four siblings, Robert (Paula) Ward of Pittsburgh, Susan Kusic of Pittsburgh, Bonnie (Larry) Midler of Avella, and Nancy Shamitko of Washington, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Linda Lounder and Richard Ward.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Bruce Levy will officiate. Following the service at the funeral home, military honors will be conducted by the Minutemen of the American Legion Post #223. A time of visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Paul will be privately laid to rest in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
