Paul E. Kendig

Paul E. Kendig, 100, of Chambersburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the Menno Haven Rehab Center. 

He was born on Wednesday, April 23, 1924 in Southampton Township, Franklin County, a son of the late Arthur F. and Anna A. Martin Kendig. He married Dorothy M. Weaver on October 21, 1944. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2004.

Paul worked throughout his life as a farmer and machinist at different places of business. He worked parttime into his eighties at Gaumer’s Chassis Engineering in Chambersburg. Paul was known as an honest, hard-working man who loved the Lord. He was a perfectionist and cherished family get-togethers. Paul attended the Maranatha Baptist Church in Shippensburg. 

He is survived by four children, Marie M. Mummert and husband Ray of Shippensburg, Sandra J. Hockenberry and husband Robert of Orrstown, Connie E. Caudill and husband Donald of Orrstown, and Kevin P. Kendig and wife Wendy of York Springs; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Roy E. Kendig and wife Jane of Upper Strasburg and Betty Mummert of Chambersburg. 

In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Russell J. Kendig, Arthur G. Kendig, and Mary Jane Jost. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor John W. Runshaw will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
