Paul K. Culbertson, 87, of Shippensburg, died peacefully with his family by his side in his daughter’s home on Saturday, December 4, 2010.
Born February 5, 1923 in Oakville, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late P. D. and Lula M. Bistline Culbertson.
He was a member of the Newburg First Church of God, a past missionary treasurer, head usher, longtime elder and a member of their men’s Sunday school class. Paul was a member of the PA Farmer’s Association, AARP # 2525, Shippensburg and a Charter member of the Newburg-Hopewell Volunteer Fire Company. Paul retired in 1986 from the Shippensburg University where he was a supervisor of the steam plant. He was a longtime dairy farmer and milk hauler.
In addition to his parents Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Minerva A. Rotz Culbertson who died May 28, 2008, one sister, Alverda Ocker. and two great-granddaughters.
He is survived by one daughter, Joan A. Smith and her husband Scott of Newburg, three sons; Wayne A. Culbertson and his wife Esther of Newburg, Fred A. Culbertson and his wife Janet, and John A. Culbertson and his wife Kay all of Shippensburg, two sisters; Alma Bear of Carlisle, and Irene Hockenberry of Newburg, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in the Newburg First Church of God, 248 Newburg Road at 1 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Dale H. Miller, Jr. and The Rev. David P. Culbertson. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., 112 West King Street, Shippensburg.
