Patricia “Jean” Diehl, 83, lifelong resident of Orrstown, departed this life on the morning of Monday, January 16, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 28, 1939, a daughter of the late Charles R. and Frances Mae (Cisney) Zulluinger. Jean married Wayne Edwin Diehl on March 20, 1960, in the St. Pauls’ United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, MD.
Jean was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed all things pertaining to raising a family and keeping a nice environment at home. Jean liked to work in her flower and vegetable gardens, which in turn lead to her doing a lot of canning as well as becoming an excellent cook and baker. Jean was also an animal lover all through her life. She and Wayne had many different cats and dogs that Jean liked taking care of. She also enjoyed feeding birds and all the little critters that frequented her backyard. The most important thing to Jean was her family, and she enjoyed caring for and spending as much time as possible with all of them. She was a longtime member of the Orrstown United Brethren Church, Orrstown.
In addition to her husband of sixty-two years, Wayne, she is survived by her daughter, Shelly Mae Stout and fiancé Charles Spangler of Orrstown; her son, Keith Edwin Diehl and fiancé Barbara Landes of Chambersburg; five grandsons, Timothy Allan Byers, Jr., and wife Karen of York, Johnathan Aaron Byers and wife Lauren of Orrstown, William Ronald Jensen and fiancé Samantha of Orrstown, and Isaac and Caleb Hull, both of Chambersburg; one granddaughter, Stephanie Mae Marshall and husband Zachary of Chambersburg; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Sheila Arlene Custer.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, January 20, 2023, in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor James Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
