Pat Wedo, 88, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 in the Shippensburg Episcopal Home.
Born Thursday, March 10, 1927 in Windber, PA, Bedford County, he was a son of the late, Tony and Mary DelVoglio Wedo. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served on the USS Los Angeles during WWII. After discharge, he enrolled at the Shippensburg State Teachers College, met and married Joan and remained a lifelong Shippensburg resident. He was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren church.
Pat retired from the Beistle Company where he worked as a department supervisor. He was also well known in Shippensburg for his role in overseeing operations at the University Lodge previously located on Walnut Bottom Road in Shippensburg.
Pat realized a life-long dream of owning a farm when he bought a 100 acre property on the Baltimore Road in 1963. The farm became a popular venue both for the families that boarded horses there and for the Shippensburg State Fraternity that called it home.
Pat was an easy man to love. His smile and inviting blue eyes are treasures to remember.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Irene Bender Wedo and is survived by three children; Jerry Sprecher of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cathy Auxer of Berlin, Maryland, and Tony ( wife Carrie)Wedo of Greenville, Delaware; along with five grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with Rev. James O. Bolich officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
