Nelson Leroy Baer, 96, a resident of the Mennonite Fellowship Home, Hagerstown, MD, departed this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 25, 2015.
He was born on August 15, 1919, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Adam and Ella Martin Baer.
Nelson was the former owner and operator of the Pinola Feed Mill and also Baer’s Country Store.
He is survived by five daughters, Anne L. (Wilmer) Eby of Shippensburg, Erma J. (Nelson) Yoder of Millersburg, IN, Lois J. (Marcus) Overholt of Abbeville, SC, Nancy M. (David) Overholt of Abbeville, SC, and Lorna S. Yoder of Fayetteville; one brother, Harry Baer of Dunster, British Columbia; twenty three grandchildren; seventy-one great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Wingert Baer, who died on March 27, 2007; a daughter in infancy; one brother; three sisters; and two great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the Shippensburg Christian Fellowship Church at 10600 Blind Lane Shippensburg, PA 17257. The Rev. Wilmer Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Old Rowe Mennonite Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
