Nedra Mouer Lytle, 93, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024 in her hometown of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. She was born on May 7, 1931 to the late Roy V. and Edna (Clippinger) Mouer. She graduated from Shippensburg Area Senior High School in 1948 and initially attended Drexel University to study fashion, but later returned to Shippensburg and married Bernard R. Lytle in 1949.
Nedra resumed her collegiate studies in 1965 at Shippensburg State College and graduated in 1969 with a Library of Science Degree, all while raising five children. She later went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Shippensburg University. In 1970, she was hired by the Chambersburg School District as Faust Junior High School’s librarian until her retirement in 1999.
As a very independent and strong woman, Nedra fervently loved three things- family and friends, her books and travel. Nedra served her community as a past member of the Shippensburg Public Library Board of Directors. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Shippensburg for over 80 years.
Nedra is preceded in death by her parents, Roy V. and Edna Mouer; her younger sister, Carol Zeigler (Donald); Bernard R. Lytle, husband of 25 years and father of her children; and Troy D. Lytle, her son.
She is survived by 4 of her children Cindi Good (William), Sherri Kaba (Ron), Kurt Lytle (Beth), and Tawni Myers (Roy); 5 grandchildren Christopher Good (Kelly), Jennifer Jacobson (Nate), Kerri Lytle, Jacqueline Knauer (Keith), and Cade Myers (Kylie); and 8 great-grandchildren Kaylee, Rylan, Ryan, Cambelle, Hyde, Finn, Keegan and Melanie.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Home & Crematorium in Shippensburg. Nedra will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery, along with her parents and son. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
