Natalie E. Keefer, 87, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2017.
She was born on October 3, 1929, in Thompson, Fulton Co., a daughter of the late William and Pearl Johnson Keefer.
Natalie was a homemaker throughout her life and provided child care in her home. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing guitar, singing, dancing, and writing songs. Natalie, along with her sister Lillian, were known as the “Keefer Sisters”, and they performed at many of the fairs and carnivals throughout Fulton and Franklin Counties. Natalie also liked to crochet and vinyl weave.
She is survived by five children, Gary A. (Brenda) Bard of Chambersburg, Debra J. (Rodney) Weaver of Shippensburg, Richard E. (Kim) Bard of Shippensburg, Roger L. (Kay) Bard of Fayetteville, and Donna F. (Randy) Cover of Shippensburg; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one brother, Calvin Keefer of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Natalie was preceded in death by her first husband, Kermit Bard; her second husband, Earl J. Keefer; one son in infancy, Danny Lee Bard; one grandson, Joshua Bard; and one sister, Lillian Eddy.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Interment will follow in the Air Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday afternoon, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
