Nancy M. Garman, 96, life-long resident of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Friday, September 17, 2021, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital with her loving family at her side.
She was born on June 11, 1925, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Harvey N. and Anna C. (Morrison) Diehl, and was a 1945 graduate of Shippensburg High School. Nancy married Dallas E. Garman on April 22, 1950 at the Shippensburg First Church of God. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2020.
Nancy worked in the finance and accounting department at the Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Shippensburg AARP #2525 and a long-time, active member of the Shippensburg First Church of God and their Berean Sunday School Class. Nancy served in several capacities at church, such as a nursery helper, a junior church teacher, greeter, and a bible school helper. In her free time she enjoyed reading the bible, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne L. Bly and husband Howard of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Michelle L. Bly and husband Dr. Tony Shetter of Waynesboro, Tara A. Mowery and husband Jason of Chambersburg, and Jennifer L. Bly and husband Jamal Boubakri of Virginia; five great grandchildren, Carter, Callie, Leena, Nora, and Layla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Minor, Janet Mowery, and Anna Noel; and three brothers, Mervin, Edgar, and Harvey Diehl.
Her private funeral service will be held on the morning of Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Gary Hornbaker will officiate. Dr. Tony Shetter will assist. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one half-hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
