Nancy S. Cawthern

Nancy S. “Mrs. C” Cawthern, 75, of Shippensburg, died on Friday, July 22, 2011, at her home.
Born on July 1, 1936, in Shamokin, PA, a daughter of the late Palmer and Katherine Garancosky Snyder. A 1954 graduate of Shamokin Area High School, where she was an outstanding girls basketball player. On May 12, 1956, she married Mr. Charles Cawthern, Jr.
Nancy was employed as a supervisor at Bell Telephone C., Philadelphia and the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, and retired in 1993, from the Letterkenny Army Depot., where she worked in the paint room.
She was very active in the Shippensburg Girls Little League Softball, Ladies Softball League, and the Shippensburg Area High School Football and Wrestling Booster Club, holding various offices and serving on many committees for many years. She enjoyed photographing many of the different sporting events that she and her family were involved in and was a member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168, Shippensburg Ladies Auxiliary.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles ‘Mr. C.” Cawthern, Jr.; one daughter, Candi J. (Jeff) Brechbiel of Shippensburg; one son, Ric A. Cawthern of Ocean City, MD; one sister, Eleanor Barrett of Folcroft, PA; and two grandchildren, Travis and Logan Kelso, both of Shippensburg.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Snyder.
Her memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Rev. William Kauffman will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Home Nursing Agency at 761 5th Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
