Muriel Monn

Muriel A. Monn, 86, a resident of the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, departed this life on the morning of Thursday, June 30, 2016.
She was born on September 13, 1929, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late William and Ruth Herbert Cooney. Muriel married Roy R. Monn on January 20, 1958. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2004.
After earning an Associates Degree in Bookkeeping, Muriel went on to have a twenty five year career as a self-employed tax preparer. She also helped her late husband Roy on the family farm until their retirement, when they turned the farm over to their son Rodney.
Muriel was a member of the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Shippensburg and in her free time enjoyed reading, and volunteered for the Shippensburg Area meals on Wheels program for many years.
She is survived by her son, Rodney (Jennifer) Monn, Sr. of Shippensburg; her daughter, Ruth Ann (Walter) Mooney of Shippensburg; one brother, Harry Edward Cooney of FL; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents an husband, Muriel was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Mother Carenda Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg Area Meals on Wheels.
