Miriam M. Wenger, age 100, of Chambersburg, departed this world peacefully in her home on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Born Wednesday, September 26, 1923 in Dallas Center, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Seth and Lois (Gift) Elliott.
Miriam was a graduate of Dallas Center High School. She married Eliab N. Wenger Jr. on October 12, 1941. Together they ran Culbertson Feed and Supply for many years and then went on to work at Doctor Freeman’s office in Shippensburg as an office assistant, which she retired from at age 83.
In her younger years, she had many hobbies including basketball, bowling, square dancing, and traveling. Most importantly, Miriam was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with her family. She also took great pride in all of her work.
Miriam is survived by two daughters, Shirley A Wenger, and Linda S. Zeger and husband Elden, both of Chambersburg; one son, Stephen E. Wenger and wife Monika of Middletown, DE; six grandchildren, Erik L. Zeger and wife Heather, Bryan A. Zeger and wife Heather, Michael A. Wenger, Stephanie E. Wenger, Matthew E. Wenger, and Bradley D. Garber and wife Tracy; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Eliab N. Wenger Jr.; one son, Bradley D. Wenger; and four siblings.
Her graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. Pastor Glenn Peck will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Miriam.
