Minnie Pearl Thomas, 70 a resident at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Shippensburg, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at the home.
Born April 28, 1945 in Newville, she was a daughter of the late Howard W. and Fleta Marie Franklin Burkett.
Minnie was of the Presbyterian Faith. She retired as Manager from the Texaco Gas Station, Carlisle, and worked as a seamstress for the former Grief Clothing Factory in Shippensburg. She was a member of the Carlisle VFW Post # 477, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 and The Minnequa Social Club both in Shippensburg. Minnie enjoyed crocheting, sewing and getting together with her large family.
Surviving is one son, Harry D. (Lisa) Thomas, Jr. of Shippensburg, two grandchildren, Tara Michelle Thomas, of Lewistown and Trevor Wade Thomas, four great grandchildren, Trevor Wade Thomas, Jr., Ava Marie Thomas, and Ethan James Thomas, all of Shippensburg, and Aaliyah Scott, of Lewistown, eight siblings, Betty (Bill) Jones, William (Doris) Burkett, Donna (Robert) Nickey, Susan (David) Shively, and Carol (Marty) Carmack, all of Shippensburg, Frances McBride, and Doris (Robert) Whitzel, both of Carlisle, and Daniel (Lois) Burkett, of Walnut Bottom, also surviving is the father of her son, Harry D. Thomas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Jo Thomas who died in 1972, and one brother, Lee Burkholder.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Earl F. Stovall officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
