Mimi Garro, 93, a resident of Elmcroft, Shippensburg, formerly of Springfield, PA, died on the evening of Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Elmcroft.
She was born on October 20, 1918, in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Vittorio and Ottavia Pierucci. On April 18, 1953, Mimi married Mr. Joseph Garro, Sr., in Philadelphia, becoming a homemaker, as she and Joseph raised their family together. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1998.
Mimi was a member of the Oasis of Love Church, Shippensburg.
Surviving are her daughter, Karin L. Thompson of Shippensburg; her son, Joseph Garro, Jr., and wife Kathleen of King of Prussia; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one sister, Melinda Giordano of Fairless Hills; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Thompson; four brothers, and one sister.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Oasis of Love Church. Rev. Nancy A. Hudson will officiate. Interment will be in the George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, on Saturday morning. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, at church. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
