Mildred G. Shannon, 83, of Newville, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Green Ridge Village.
She was born August 23, 1937 in Shippensburg, PA. Mildred was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Ruth Sites Kling.
She was a member of the Oakville United Methodist Church, Shippensburg. Mildred retired in 2007, working at U-Wanna Wash Frock, Franklin Clothing and various other garment factories. She was a collector of Boyd’s Bears and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, traveling and camping with family.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Charles R. Shannon whom she married April 9, 1961, one daughter, Judy K. (Donald, Jr.) Kail of Newville, one son, Kenneth A. (Kimberly) Shannon of Williamsburg, VA, four grandchildren, Mandy (Michael) Wyrick, Donald Kail, III, William (fiancée, Crissy Pawlak) Shannon and David (Jamie) Shannon, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Chester Kling of Shippensburg and Ronald Kling of Florida, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Shannon and two sisters, Marguerite Beam and Lillian Kling.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be Pastor Blanca Baker. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
