Mildred Jane Nye, 91, a resident of Menno Haven, Chambersburg, departed this life on the evening of Saturday, August 27, 2016.
She was born on May 10, 1925, in Greene Twp., Franklin Co., a daughter of the late William and Florence Coover Wyant. Mildred was a 1943 graduate of Chambersburg High School and married Ormand “Bud” Nye on September 13, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2005.
Mildred was a homemaker throughout her life. She had a passion for tending to the many flower bed’s around her home, enjoyed all types of crafts, particularly painting ceramics and cake decorating, and was an excellent seamstress, actually making most of her own clothing during her entire life. Mildred was also a life-long member of the Salem United Brethren Church.
She is survived by her two sons, William (Sharon) Nye of Roxbury and Denny (Beverly) Nye of Shippensburg; her daughter, Judy (Barry) Negley of Shippensburg; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by one brother, three step-sisters, and one step-brother.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at the Salem United Brethren Church, Chambersburg, with Pastor Art Page and Pastor Ron Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday, at the church. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Brethren Church at 4349 Letterkenny Rd. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
