Michael Brady Rook, 71 of Upper Strasburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 2, 2018, from the Chambersburg Hospital, with his loving wife and family by his side.
He was born March 7, 1946 in Chambersburg, PA to the late Daniel Rook and Helen (Mills) Rook.
Michael retired from Letterkenny Army Depot after 30 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed working at Majestic Ridge Golf Course for 16 years and then the Chambersburg Country Club for seven years.
Michael was a member of the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg and was a member of North American Hunting Club, National Rifle Association, Sons of the American Legion Post 223, Newburg Lodge # 562 and the PA Sheriff’s Association.
For seven years Michael enjoyed being a guide for hunting trophy white tail deer in Illinois. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean (Patterson) Rook; one son, Steven B. Rook and his wife Cerina of Newburg; one daughter, Pamela J. (Rook) Cutshaw of McConnellsburg; six grandchildren, Erin (Charlie) Appleby, Derrek (Alyssa) Russell, Kendra (Ramie) Sipes, Dustin (Samara) Rook, Tara and Jacob Cutshaw; six great grandchildren, Brady and Brookyln Higgins, Tristan and Trinity Sipes, Paisley Russell and Kaiden Rook.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant great grandson, Trey Sipes.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church at 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with the Pastor Jason S. Wenger officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services in the church.
