Michael E. “Mike” Beecher, 56, of Shippensburg, died Monday, May 30, 2011 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born March 23, 1955 in Carlisle, he was a son of Margaret C. Davidson Beecher of Newville and the late Harold R. Beecher, Sr.
He was a driver for the Walnut Bottom Construction Company and was a 1973 graduate of Big Spring High School.
Mike loved spending time with his family and friends. He could usually be found in the kitchen cooking or dancing to his favorite albums. Mike enjoyed hiking and gardening. He was a generous and kind hearted man, the go-to guy for whatever needed done. Mike was a loving father, who volunteered at school and class trips. He was a band booster and spent many hours at the gym cheering for his girls on the volleyball court or spinning flags.
Mike will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Kathy C. Kyner Beecher, three daughters, Emily J. Beecher of Shippensburg, Eliza G. Baker and her husband Patrick, and Zora A. Beecher all of Carlisle, three brothers, Thomas B. Beecher of Gulfport, MS, Daniel R. Beecher of Shippensburg, and John A. Beecher of Carlisle, two sisters, Margaret A. Clifford of Newville, and Nancy L. Widney of Orrstown, In-laws, Robert and Velva Kyner of Shippensburg, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold R. Beecher, Jr.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Jean Kuebler. Burial will be private. There will be no viewing, however a visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
