Melvin B. Leid, 68, of 1015 Ridge Road, Shippensburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at his residence.
Born Friday, February 9, 1951 in Ephrata, PA, he was a son of Lizzie (Burkholder) Leid, of Ephrata, and the late Weaver Leid, Sr.
Melvin was a member of the Blue Ridge Mennonite Church, Carlisle. Melvin was a farmer most of his life, and later was employed by Nolts Power Equipment in Shippensburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Ella (Hoover) Leid, Shippensburg; five sons, and four daughters, Glenn and wife Louanna (Eby) Leid, Shippensburg, PA, Arlene and husband Jon Reinford, Newville, PA, Elaine and husband Justin Meyers, Chambersburg, PA, David and wife Denise (Seyfert) Leid, Lebanon, PA, Harvey Leid, Newville, PA, Leonard and wife Simona (Fodor) Leid, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Leon and wife Anne (Beiler) Leid, Uppsala, Sweden, Rosanne and husband Kirby Witmer, Carlisle, PA, and Rosene and husband Marcellus Wile, Shippensburg, PA; six brothers; and seven sisters; Aaron and wife Lizzie (Redcay) Leid, Ephrata, PA, Allen and wife Emma (Horst) Leid, Orrstown, PA, Alta and husband Ira Hoover, PennYan, NY, Edna Leid, Ephrata, Anna and husband John Hoover, Ephrata, PA, Titus and wife Mabel (Horst) Leid, Stevens, PA, Ada Leid, Ephrata, PA, Laura and husband Elam Zimmerman, Dundee, NY, Paul and wife Wilma (Oberholtzer) Leid, Ephrata, PA, Lizzie and husband Lawrence Zimmerman, Denver, PA, Mary and husband Stephen Martin, Denver, PA, Weaver and wife Ada (Oberholtzer) Leid, Jr., Ephrata, PA, Lawrence and wife Susan (Rissler) Leid Ephrata, PA; and 19 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Blue Ridge Mennonite Church, 2514 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, with Luke Bennetch, Darvin Halteman, and James Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Mennonite Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Blue Ridge Mennonite Church.
