Melody J. Swope, 56, of Chambersburg, died on Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born on July 11, 1955, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Robert “Rip” and Alice “Joyce” Monn Starliper, she was a 1973 graduate of Chambersburg High School. Then on July 14, 1973 Melody married her high school sweetheart, Mr. Garry Swope in Marion, PA.
Melody was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God. She enjoyed crocheting and bingo, loved the beach and taking weekend trips to Lancaster. Her favorite thing to do was spend time being close with her family and planning family activities.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Garry; her daughter, Robin (Bill) Sweigart of Chambersburg; her son, Mark (Dawn) Swope of Chambersburg; three sisters, Martha (Douglas) Woy of Fayetteville, Susan (Terry) Gearhart of Greencastle, and Sandra Starliper of Shippensburg; five grandsons, Zachary, Trevor, Landon, Garrett Levi, and Tanner; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Chambersburg First Church of God at 2230 Grand Point Road Chambersburg, PA 17201. Interment will be private. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.
