Melba A. Strouse, 83, of Newville, passed away the morning of Monday, July 19, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Thursday, January 6, 1938 in Howard, Centre County, a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Rena B. (Emenhizer) Nyman, Sr.
Melba was a Licensed Practical Nurse, retiring from the Carlisle Hospital. From 1976 to 1989 she helped her husband, Rev. Larry A. Strouse, run the Joy of Living Ministries. The two of them pastored Brethren in Christ Churches in the area from 1961 to 1986. Melba also loved and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Larry A. Strouse; three children, Darwin J. (Colleen) Strouse, Denise R. (Charles) Alleman, and Doyle R. (Hwan) Strouse, all of Newville; one sister, Faye L. Holt; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one more on the way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Newville First Church of God. Rev. Harry Plank and Rev. Glenn Halstead will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
