Meda Leedy

Meda E. Leedy, 93, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on September 20, 1928, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Gutshall) Varner. Meda married Ambrose Z. Leedy in October of 1947 and moved into their home in Middle Spring where she resided for seventy-five years until her death. Ambrose preceded her in death on October 2, 2012.

Meda was employed several different places throughout her life, but primarily worked as a seamstress in the former local clothing industry, and also as a housekeeper. She was a longtime member of the Mainsville Church and served as its pianist for many years.

Meda was well known for her coconut cream pies which were sold at the local auction food stand for charity. Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Meda will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, caring mother, and beloved grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Lester E. Leedy and wife Robilee of Shippensburg and Kevin L. Leedy and wife Peggy of Camden, SC; eleven grandchildren, Tori Ricker, Taryn Myers, Martin McBride, Brooke Coder, Brianna Neil, Nickki Fair, Chris Leedy, Jereme Leedy, Luke Leedy, Brett Leedy, and Aaron Leedy; twenty-five great grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Rotz; one brother, Paul Varner, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Meda was preceded in death by a son, Leland Leedy; and three siblings, Raymond, Violet, and Jack.

Her graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Pastor Donald Herb will officiate. A viewing will be held Sunday afternoon, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
