Max R. Higgins, 80, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Thursday, April 21, 1938 in Williamsport, MD., he was a son of the late David Martin and Susan Hanson Higgins.
Max attended St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. He retired from American Stair & Cabinetry as a carpenter. Max loved hunting, butchering, and farming.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth B. “Betty” Brookens Higgins, Chambersburg; three sons, George (wife Regina) Higgins, Sharpsburg, MD, Alan Higgins, Williamsport, MD, and Timothy (wife Debbie) Higgins, Williamsport, PA; one step-son, Tom (wife Debbie) Stover, Chambersburg; two step-daughters, Robin (husband Kenny) Shoap, and Jean B. Frazier, all of Chambersburg; two sisters, Martha Higgins Speaker, and Gloria Higgins Armstrong, both residing in Maryland; nine grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-son, Robert L. Porter, Jr., five sisters, and four brothers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202, with the Rev. Christopher Frye officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens at a later date.
