Maurice Martin

Maurice M. Martin, 88, of Rockville, MD, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Maurice was born on May 4, 1926 in Greenvillage, PA to Charles S. and Laura B. Millhouse Martin. He attended a two room school house where he received an outstanding education referring to it as the Greenvillage Academy. He then graduated from the Chambersburg High School.

Maurice served in Germany in the U.S. Army in the 6th Calvary Group as a mechanic and tank driver and then was recruited into the 105th Company Band playing both the trumpet and French horn. He graduated from Penn State University with an undergraduate and graduate degree in agricultural economics and had a career in milk marketing for 40 years at both the state (Pennsylvania) and Federal level.

Maurice married the love of his life, Marjorie Winifred Means, from Shippensburg, PA in August, 1952. They had five children: Patricia Deckert, married to Glenn Deckert; Susan Waters; Jennifer Martin; Laura Lee, married to ChiHon Lee; and Andrew Martin, married to Marjorie Lindsey as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Maurice was a member of the Orrstown Masonic lodge # 262 F. & A. M. for 62 years, proudly receiving his 60 year pin just last year.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Pearl M Ambrose and devoted wife, Marjorie.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mary Beth Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Middle Spring Cemetery.
