Mary “Carolyn” Walker, 86, of West Main Street, Walnut Bottom, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 in the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born Monday, September 19, 1927 in Walnut Bottom, she was a daughter of the late Clair G. and Fannie D. (Seavers) Goodhart.
Carolyn was a graduate of the Shippensburg High School and a 1948 graduate of the York Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from the Carlisle Hospital as a Registered Nurse after 30 years of service.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Walnut Bottom and a former member of Centerville Lutheran Church. Carolyn enjoyed reading and taking walks in the mountain with her husband Tom, she loved and cherished her family.
Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Lester E. “Tom” Walker who she married September 26, 1953, three sons, Patrick K. Walker (Terry) of Carlisle, William H. Walker and Benjamin L. Walker (Rosemary) all of Walnut Bottom, three daughters, Jennifer L. Hande of Camp Hill, Mary E. Henry (Mrs. Robert) of Walnut Bottom and Lucinda M. Dobler (Mrs. Robert) of Chambersburg, one brother, Jack D. Wyrick (Judy) of Shippensburg, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, one step great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Mitten and a half-brother, Russell Goodhart.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Rehoboth Cemetery, Walnut Bottom, with Chaplain Alan Echard officiating.
