Mary Catherine Thomas, 69, of Newville, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 23, 1944 in Chambersburg, PA. Mary was a daughter of the late Harold and Charlotte Musser Lindsey.
She retired from the Cumberland Valley School District, where she was a matron with over 35 years of service. Mary was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to all.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd R. Thomas, Sr. who died January 29, 1992. Two brothers and two sisters are also deceased.
She is survived by five children, Carl Thomas of Newville, Lloyd Thomas, Jr. of Walnut Bottom, Kim Hawkins and her husband Steven of Carlisle, Betty Gladfelter of Newville, and Linda Welsh of Carlisle, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, a companion of 22 years, Todd Whitney of Newville, two brothers, Charles Lindsey, and Reginald Lindsey and his wife Kay, seven sisters, Edna Kuren, Ann Shaver, Elsie Ott, Blanche Boggs and her husband Russell, Lettie Bumgardner, Karen Miller, and Laurel Laughman and her husband Allen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Donald G. Jones. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
