Mary B. Shindledecker, 94, formerly of Kessler Dr. and then Elmcroft, Shippensburg, died on the morning of Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
She was born on April 1, 1920, in Upper Strasburg, a daughter of the late John and Florence Reitz Basore. On July 21, 1937, she married Leslie M. “Wimpy” Shindledecker in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1984.
Mary was primarily a homemaker throughout her life, but in her younger years, worked at a few of the former local garment factories as a seamstress. She was a member of the Ridge Church of the Brethren, the Shippensburg Senior Center, and in the past, enjoyed watching birds, tending to her flower beds, and working around her home.
She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Jean (Robert) McMullen of Shippensburg and Judith Elaine Heckman of Hummelstown; her son, Ronald Lee Shindledecker of Dover, DE; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, John and George Basore and her sister, Sarah Kegerreis.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Earl F. Stovall will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
