Mary Grace Shields, 87, of Newburg, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 in Green Ridge Village, Newville.
Born July 15, 1924 in Newville, she was a daughter of the late Harvey T. and Anna Grace Gettel Bitner.
She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, Newburg. Years ago Mary was employed by Howard Johnson’s on the PA Turnpike, the Beistle Company, Kay & Ray’s Potato Chips, the Episcopal Home and at Reasner Hall, Shippensburg University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Shields, and three brothers and one sister.
Mary is survived by four sons, Dale B. Heberlig and his wife Shirley of Shippensburg, A. Wayne Heberlig and his companion Peg Reed of Newburg, Nelson H. Heberlig and his wife Judy, and Ronald L. Heberlig and his wife Judy all of Newburg, two daughters, JoAnn E. Sprecher of Newburg, and M. Darlene Davidson, of Shippensburg, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation.
