Mary Myers

March 7, 1941 — August 15, 2022

Mary Ann Myers, 81, of Pleasant Hall, departed this life on the morning of Monday, August 15, 2022, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born in March 7, 1941, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late John and Mary Lou (Kane) Petruska. Mary Ann married Ray S. Myers on August 25, 1962, in the Orrstown United Brethren Church.

Mary Ann had a long career in the local health care field. She started working as an LPN at the South Mountain Restoration Center in the early sixties and finished her career as a surgical technician, working at the Chambersburg Hospital, from where she retired in 1997.

In their younger years, Mary Ann and Ray, were charter members of the Whirly Birds square dancing group. Around that time in their lives they also enjoyed camping with their three young sons. Mary Ann and Ray also loved to ride motorcycle, were members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and over the years they figured they put more miles on their Gold Wing than any car they ever owned. Mary Ann also enjoyed going to car shows, street rods, and watching NASCAR. At home she liked doing crossword puzzles and baking cakes.

In addition to her husband of sixty years, Ray, she is survived by two sons, Steve Myers of Orrstown and Matthew Myers and wife Candice of Upper Strasburg; two grandsons, Jesse and Joshua Myers of Bedford; one granddaughter, Haley Myers of Upper Strasburg; two sisters, Linda Schell of Orrstown and Wilma McKendrick of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by a son, John Myers, who died in 1973.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Lurgan United Brethren Church. Pastor Art Page will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday afternoon at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lurgan United Brethren Church at 7900 Roxbury Rd, PO Box 2, Lurgan PA 17232.
