Mary “Ann“ Meredith of Shippensburg, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Shippensburg on June 6, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Harry L. and Mary Reed Shughart.
Ann graduated from LPN school in 1971. She worked at the Franklin County Nursing Home, and later worked at ManorCare of Chambersburg, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW #6168, the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion #223, and the Minnequa Social Club, all in Shippensburg. Ann belonged to the Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg, and the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church. Ann loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by a son Berk B. Meredith, III of Roxbury; three daughters, Darlene (Robert) Kirkpatrick of Orrstown, Diane (Bob) Dewey, Mary Ann (Joe) Dewey, of Shippensburg; two sisters, Janet Kohler of Chambersburg, and Jean Watson of Shippensburg; 8 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Berk B. Meredith, Jr. (1994); fiancé Richard “Dick” Doyle, (2006); two grandchildren, Jeremy “Butch” Meredith (1993), and Justin Meredith (2009); great-great grandson Deon Branche (2012); two brothers; and four sisters.
Ann loved her animals, especially her companion of twelve years, Teddy her cocker spaniel, six cats, Maggie May, Stella, Little Boy, Tiger Kitty, Tilly and Pearl.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc. with The Rev. Dr. Meagan M. Boozer, The Rev. Rocky W. Spear, and Pastor Phil Foster officiating. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
