Our beloved mother, Mary Mason, passed into eternal life at her home at Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA on July 5, 2023.

Mary was born on November 9, 1943 in Chambersburg, PA to John and Pauline Mowery. She graduated top of her high school class of 1961 from Fannett-Metal School. She then went to the Harrisburg School of Nursing and was capped RN. She later entered Messiah College in Grantham, PA and then onto Elmhurst College where she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in English.

In 1963, she was married and went to India for two years to serve in the U.S. Peace Corp. In the state of Andhra Pradesh, she helped all the schools develop vegetable gardens where students cultivated and shared in the fruit of their labor.

Mary aspired to go into ministry going on to graduate from Bethany Theological Seminary in Oak Brook, IL with a Masters of Arts in Theology. After relocating to Iowa, she was called to ministry by Garwin Christian Church and Bethel Grove Christian Church. While in this pastorate, she enrolled at Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA from which she got her Masters of Divinity Degree.

She went on to serve several other churches in Illinois and Nebraska going on to retire as chaplain at Charter House, a Mayo Clinic retirement community, in Rochester, MN.
While at Charter House, she enrolled at Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul MN where she earned her Doctorate of Ministry.

Mary was an avid hobbyist who enjoyed quilting, cooking, drawing, sewing, puzzling, playing cards, and reading. She spent much time corresponding and visiting with her family and many friends.

She is survived by her children Jon (Sue) Taylor, Melissa (Terry) Webb, and Kamala (Chris) Cline, grandchildren; Erik Taylor, Brienne Taylor, Levi Webb, Devin Webb, Easton Webb, Olivia Cline, Isabella Cline, and Aaron Cline, great grandchildren; Emma Taylor and Elena Taylor, siblings; Samuel Mowery, Charles (Mae) Mowery, Norman (Linda) Mowery, Joy McGuire, Grace (Michael) Reese, and Eva Jane Tutch. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Larry Mason.
