Mary “Janie” Kirby, 73, of St. Thomas, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born April 16, 1942 in Mongul, PA. Janie was a daughter of the late Wayne F. and Marie M. Beltz Laman.
She retired from the Housekeeping Department at Shippensburg University and many years ago worked for Philadelphia Maintenance at the Letterkenny Army Depot. Janie attended the Chambersburg Baptist Church. She was a 1960 graduate of the Greencastle High School and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Chambersburg.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Laman.
Janie is survived by her husband, Blain A. Kirby, a son, Jeffrey W. Kirby and his wife Jaqueline of Chambersburg, a daughter, Kandie E. Jones and her husband Timothy of St. Thomas, four grandchildren, Jessica Mickey, Joshua Kirby, Keaira Carr, and Kylee Jones, three great grandsons, Andrew Mickey, Riley Kirby, and Weston Mickey, and a great grandson on the way in 2016 that will be named Zion Carr, a brother, Harry Laman of Chambersburg, and two sisters, Janet Rowe and Shirley Fuller both of St. Thomas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Officiating will be Dr. Kenny J. Craig. Burial will be held in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. There will not be a viewing on Saturday.
