Mary E. Kendall, 90, of Chambersburg, passed away the morning of Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation & Wellness Center.
She was born on June 8, 1932 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Raleigh and Faye (Finkenbinder) Jones.
Mary worked as a seamstress at many of the former local garment factories, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and more recently attended the Greenvillage Church of God, where she enjoyed working in their Bible Release Program. Mary loved gardening and spending time with family, especially with all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughter, Nancy J. (Thomas R.) Gamble of Chambersburg, and Hope J. Alspaugh of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Tawyna R. Gamble, Terrie R. (Denerick Brown) Gamble, Tyler R. (Jo Ellen) Gamble, Erick (Kelly) Booz, Kory (Jess) Alspaugh, and Nicholas Alspaugh; 14 great-grandchildren, David Gamble, Tucker Brookens, Logan Gamble, Ryelee Stull, Christian Stull, Samuel Stull, A’Zayla Brown, Ciera (Chad) Richwine, Alexandra Booz, Leea Booz, Olivia Booz, Isabella Booz, Myla Alspaugh, and Piper Alspaugh; one great-great grandchild, Alexander Richwine, and one great-great-grandchild due in September; and one brother, Joseph (Liz) Jones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Kendall, who passed away on November 10, 1995. Also preceding her in death is one sister, Betty Drezek and one brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Matthew Tosten will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
