Mary E. Wolfe Hershey, 97, of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at Menno Haven, Chambersburg.
She was born March 26, 1921 in Shippensburg, PA. Mary was a daughter of the late John R. and Edna Durff Wolfe.
Mary had worked as a waitress, a seamstress at the former Shirt Craft Company in Shippensburg, a dairy farmer, and founded Hershey Antiques in 1965. Mary had antiques in Kings Antiques in Shippensburg, Northgate in Carlisle and attended her favorite, Kenny’s Auction in Chambersburg. She attended the Oakville United Methodist Church. Mary’s hobbies included restoration of antiques, sewing, braiding rugs, flower arranging, crocheting, and most of all loved her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harper Daniel Hershey, Jr. who passed away March 28, 1989. Three brothers, Albert, Walter and Glenn Wolfe and one sister, Janet L. Wolfe Gorsuch are also deceased.
She is survived by three children, Gene and Monica (Dysinger) Hershey and Robert and Mary Lou (Thrush) Hershey, all of Shippensburg, and Robert and Connie (Hershey) Meyer of Wildwood, NJ; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one sister, Mable Mowers of Chambersburg; one brother, John W. “Bill” Wolfe of Shippensburg; and one sister-in-law, Betty Hershey Shoemaker and her husband Donald of York.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Officiating will be a nephew, Mr. Jim Washabaugh. Burial will be held in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
